About Us

Hi, I'm Tracey.

Tracey from The Bookshelf, Saltash

My background is in early years learning and education, however my love of books has taken me on a journey and in 2018 I purchased this lovely independent shop, The Bookshelf in Saltash - I can now immerse myself in my passion for books and reading.

Since the start we've increased the number and range of books we have for sale. We stock, or can order for 48 hour delivery, all the popular fiction and non fiction titles as well as great range of walking maps books and the maps to allow our customers to enjoy the beautiful countryside of Cornwall and Devon.

Our range of local Cornish books is also growing including books on the railways and Cornish Folklore as well as those from popular regional fiction writers, like Liz Fenwick, who often visits.

As well as popular books, we have also become known as experts in sourcing those book titles that aren't so common and offer a free book search service for those looking for something different.

Upstairs in our local shop, we have introduced our second hand books which can be browsed by our customers whilst enjoying their coffee and cake, these books are also for sale with a donation made to local charities.

About the Shop

Our lovely little shop in Saltash Fore Street, Cornwall is not just a book shop we also sell puzzles, cards and small gifts.

Some say the best bit of our shop is definitely the wholesome food and cake we have available to eat in or take away.

We serve a small breakfast and jacket potatoes as well as cakes and cream teams. You can view a our menu here.

We are also proud of eco-credentials ensuring we do our best to protect the future for the next generation. We ensure all our products are responsibly sourced and endeavour to limit our packaging; we are  proud to have received our Plastic Free Saltash Award.

So if you're need of something to do today in Cornwall, pop by, have some cake, browse our books and take it easy; we'd love to see you.
